Vasilisa the Wise and her Birds

Going with the idea of what if Russian folk characters lived on in the modern-day. Half of a project I did for a Prof. class, based on a Slavic fable of Vasilisa the Beautiful (or the Wise). I decided to extend the story to a modern setting making Vasilisa into a more of the Wise archetype and graduating Baba Yaga school of wildlife living.

Designs based on Slavic various traditional outfits, mainly the sarafan.

Since the tale of Vasilisa and Baba Yaga is one of the few to not feature a male hero saving the day i wanted to design a more independent Vasilisa.

Based on a short-eared owl and a Eurasian kestrel.

A morally ambiguous witch. I designed 2 forms: the Forest Witch and the Ruler of the Underworld
